Where exactly are you located? The Youth Center’s Cheer / Gymnastics Center is located on the Joint Forces Training Base at 11340 Valley Forge Avenue (Building 57). For security purposes you must show a picture ID to gain access to the base! The base gate is located at the foot of Lexington, ¼ mile South of Katella Avenue. After you enter the gate continue straight ahead until the first stop sign, Saratoga Avenue. At that intersection you will see a helicopter on your left and a tank on your right. Make a sharp left on Saratoga Avenue and left on Valley Forge Avenue. Gym building is number 44 and is next to the Pool. There is ample free parking adjacent to the building. Do you have to go to both Try-out dates? No, you only have to show up to one of them. Do you have to be there the full time of try-outs? Yes, they learn a simple, age appropriate, fun routine in the beginning of the try- out day that they will be judged on as a group. Can you sign up after try-outs? Yes, as long as you do so before August 1st and get approval from the head coach. For the team a private try-out is necessary. For our cheer class it is not. Can you bring a friend to try-outs? Yes. If you bring someone that makes the competition team and signs up, you will receive one month free. There is no limit to how many friends you can bring either! What’s the youngest and the oldest ages that can try out? As young as 3 and as old as 18. Is there a strong chance my daughter will make it? Yes... she will make it. We offer cheer classes as well as competitive teams. We have a place within our organization for every single child. Try-outs insure that she is placed properly. How many competitions does the team do through out the year? Between 10 – 12 competitions during competition season. When does competition season start? As early as Oct. 1st and goes through April. How much are the competitions? They range from $25 to $105. Can you buy a used uniform? Yes, as long as there is one in stock that will fit your child. They average about $100 for the uniform only. You would have to then purchase the remaining items separately from the Director. (shoes/bow/Warm-ups/Bag/Make-up) How often do they practice? Each team practices twice a week. Is tumbling class mandatory? Yes, each participant will be expected to attend at least one tumbling class each week for one hour. Does the tumbling class cost extra? No, the tumbling class is included in the monthly cheer fee. What is the monthly Cheer Fee for 2008/2009 season? The monthly cheer fee is $125 due on the first of every month. How much do other All Star Cheer programs cost? Other All Star Cheer programs average $300-$450 per month, therefore Diamond Elite is the best deal you’re going to find! We are able to keep our costs low because we are a non-profit organization run through the Los Alamitos Youth Center. Do you get a sibling discount? Yes , if you have more than one child in the program, you’ll receive a 10% discount on your monthly cheer fee. Are there penalties if you miss a practice? Yes, there will be penalties charged to you if your daughter misses a practice unexcused by the head coach. All penalties will be listed within your contract. Are there fun activities that the girls do together as a team? Yes, we have many team parties throughout the year. |
